Three Businesses Successfully Sold!

The M&A market in British Columbia has been very active this in the first half of 2017 and the latest transactions reflect that. Between April and August three businesses successfully sold to new new buyers. All three businesses were different, but all three were profitable, well prepared and motivated.

1. First is the speed with which deals are getting done.

This successful Irrigation Business engaged us mid April 2017 and the transaction completed at the end of August 2017. The sellers had built a great business, but wanted to retire. The buyer was looking to grow and diversify his existing business. Entrepreneurial spirit on both sides, the deal was written up, due diligence completed and both parties are on their way to achieving their goals.

2. Second are the prices that businesses are transacting at.

The owner of this long established Sewing Machine Distribution Business wanted to retire and engaged Marion Van Keken-Rietkerk of NAI Commercial to find a buyer. After preparing a valuation and agreeing on a price, we approached a variety of potential buyers. The successful buyer was the one who was best positioned to capitalize on the synergies of this business; knowledge of the industry and financial capacity to make the transaction successful. The business sold for full price.

3. Third are the buyers who are looking for a solid investment.

This Delicatessen and Meat Processing Business with property in BC received a ton of inquiries and had multiple interested parties due to the fact that the business was solid and profitable and there was lots of underlying value in the real estate. Buyers are looking for investments that they can control and scale. They have skills and experience, they see potential to grow the business while doing what they love.
